Director of Billing

Job Description

A large professional service firm is seeking a Billing Director to lead and elevate its billing operations function. This is an excellent opportunity for a billing leader who combines deep operational expertise with a passion for technology, process improvement, and team development. We are targeting professionals who have built strong billing management experience and successfully driven system and workflow enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all aspects of the billing operation, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service levels.
Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing billing team.
Evaluate and improve billing processes, workflows, and controls to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
Drive technology initiatives, including system enhancements, conversions, implementations, and upgrades.
Partner with leadership, finance, and operational stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Serve as a subject matter expert on billing systems, reporting, and best practices.
Develop training programs and documentation to improve team capabilities and system adoption.
Monitor key performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the billing function.
Ensure compliance with firm policies, client requirements, and billing guidelines.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum 7 years of relevant billing experience, with a strong background in billing operations leadership.
Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams.
Strong understanding of the full billing lifecycle, billing operations, and process optimization.
Experience with 3E or similar legal billing/financial management systems.
Experience leading billing system implementations, upgrades, conversions, or other technology-driven initiatives.
Proven track record of improving processes, increasing efficiency, and leveraging technology to enhance operations.
Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
