Head Dietitian
Salary: $100,000+ (Flexible based on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time
Department: Clinical/Nutrition Services
Reports To: Administrator / Director of Nursing
We are seeking an experienced Head Dietitian to oversee clinical nutrition services in our skilled nursing facility. The Head Dietitian will provide nutritional assessments and recommendations, monitor residents’ nutritional needs, and work closely with nursing, physicians, dietary staff, and other members of the care team.
ResponsibilitiesComplete nutritional assessments for new and existing residents.
Develop and monitor individualized nutrition care plans.
Monitor weight changes, malnutrition, hydration, and nutritional risks.
Recommend therapeutic diets, supplements, and other nutritional interventions.
Participate in care plan and interdisciplinary meetings.
Review menus and ensure meals meet residents’ nutritional and dietary needs.
Work with dietary staff to address allergies, preferences, and special diets.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
Educate nursing and dietary staff on nutrition-related topics.
Communicate with residents and families regarding nutritional needs and dietary preferences.
Participate in QAPI and other quality improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with applicable CMS and state requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required.
Active state license to practice as a Dietitian required.
Minimum 3 years of skilled nursing facility (SNF) experience required.
Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience working with elderly residents and interdisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of CMS and skilled nursing facility nutrition requirements.
This position requires regular movement throughout the skilled nursing facility, including resident rooms, dining areas, and dietary areas.
