Job Title: CNC Machine Operator
Job Description
The CNC Machine Operator sets up and operates CNC mills and lathes to perform standard and repetitive machining operations on a variety of metal parts. This role focuses on running proven programs and using existing setups to complete drilling, reaming, tapping, milling, turning, boring, and other machining processes while maintaining consistent quality through precise measurement and inspection.
Responsibilities
- Operate and adjust CNC mills and CNC lathes (including Haas equipment) to perform drilling, reaming, tapping, milling, turning, boring, and other machining operations on a wide range of surfaces, diameters, and depths.
- Run standard and repetitive production sequences using programs and setups that are prepared and proven by others.
- Monitor machines during operation and make routine adjustments to maintain part quality and efficient production.
- Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, thread gauges, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform in-process quality checks and document inspection results as required.
- Enter and read input and output numbers on a computer to track production and part information.
- Handle and position metal parts, lifting up to 5 pounds into and out of the machine on a regular basis.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.
- Communicate any quality issues, equipment concerns, or material problems to the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Support continuous improvement by following established work instructions and participating in training for new tasks and departments.
- At least 6 months of machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 1+ year of machining experience operating production equipment such as brake press, laser, punch press, turret, CNC, or similar machinery in a manufacturing setting.
- 1+ year of experience using micrometers and calipers and performing quality inspection on parts.
- Ability to operate and make basic adjustments to CNC mills and CNC lathes, including Haas machines.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and thread gauges.
- Ability to read, enter, and interpret numerical data using a computer interface.
- Capability to lift and handle metal parts up to 5 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Comfort working in a loud, industrial manufacturing environment while following all safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts.
- Previous experience as a CNC operator, tapper, or similar production machine operator.
- Background working with multiple types of manufacturing machines such as brake presses, lasers, punch presses, or turret presses.
- Familiarity with standard quality inspection practices in a production setting.
- Willingness to learn new departments and processes through structured training and step programs.
- Ability to work overtime, including some Fridays and Saturdays, as needed and approved in advance.
- Strong reliability and attendance record to participate in attendance incentive programs.
- Interest in progressing into more advanced machinist, lead, or supervisory roles over time.

Work Environment
This role is based in a very large, approximately 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility with around 700 employees. The environment is loud and can be dirty, reflecting a high-volume industrial production setting. The primary opening is on 3rd shift, running from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday evening through Thursday morning. Every three weeks, Friday and Saturday shifts are scheduled, while other weekends are generally voluntary, depending on production needs and prior approval. Overtime is available and can extend total hours up to 60 per week when approved. Shift premiums apply for 2nd and 3rd shifts. Work involves standing, operating CNC mills and lathes, handling small metal parts, and using precision measurement tools and computer interfaces throughout the shift. The dress code requires steel-toe footwear, jeans, and a t-shirt without rips or holes, in line with safety and professionalism standards in a busy manufacturing environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.50/hr.
