Transportation Assistant
The job of Transportation Assistant is done for the purpose of assisting students during transport to and from school and/or special activities; and ensuring the safety and sanitation of assigned vehicles.
Essential Functions
- Assesses potential emergency situations on the bus/van and within loading and unloading zones
- Assists students with safe loading and unloading
- Instructs students regarding rules and regulations
- Monitors students, (e.g. unruly, disruptive, abusive language, etc.)
- Monitors students with special needs until released to teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc.
- Prepares documentation, (e.g. incident reports/student behavior code, passenger misconduct, etc.)
- Reports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, any physical or mental changes pertaining to students, inappropriate social behavior, etc.)
- Secures students and/or equipment with restraints, tie downs, (e.g. wheelchairs, seat belts, operating lift as needed, etc.)
- Assists other personnel as needed
Qualifications
- Experience desired
- Pass a criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
- Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English
This is a 10 month School Year position only.
