divh2Transportation Assistant/h2pThe job of Transportation Assistant is done for the purpose of assisting students during transport to and from school and/or special activities; and ensuring the safety and sanitation of assigned vehicles./ph3Essential Functions/h3ulliAssesses potential emergency situations on the bus/van and within loading and unloading zones/liliAssists students with safe loading and unloading/liliInstructs students regarding rules and regulations/liliMonitors students, (e.g. unruly, disruptive, abusive language, etc.)/liliMonitors students with special needs until released to teacher, instructional assistant, parent, etc./liliPrepares documentation, (e.g. incident reports/student behavior code, passenger misconduct, etc.)/liliReports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, any physical or mental changes pertaining to students, inappropriate social behavior, etc.)/liliSecures students and/or equipment with restraints, tie downs, (e.g. wheelchairs, seat belts, operating lift as needed, etc.)/liliAssists other personnel as needed/li/ulh3Qualifications/h3ulliExperience desired/liliPass a criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance/liliAbility to read, write and communicate clearly in English/li/ulpThis is a 10 month School Year position only./p/div
