Job ID: LP_010401-2655210 Job Summary The Advanced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Advanced LCSW) provides intensive social work services, using mature professional judgment and a wide range of skills. The role requires minimal supervision, independent clinical judgment, and the ability to handle serious and complex cases. The Advanced LCSW serves as a role model, resource for clinical practice, and driver of departmental goals and development. Essential Functions Prepare and maintain electronic medical records in accordance with department and/or health system policies. Provide written and oral reports and hand‑offs. Conduct psychosocial assessments of patients/families upon admission, annually, and/or as clinically indicated to evaluate social, emotional, and physical needs using social work theories and techniques. Identify and address barriers to care. Collaborate with interdisciplinary health‑care teams to devise, develop, and implement patient/family psychosocial treatment plans, coordinate referrals to specialty and social services, and record progress notes. Help patients/families cope with environmental and psychological issues of illness. Manage independently assigned caseload with varying clinical acuity. Engage in case finding for patients/families with potential psychosocial needs. Attend team conferences and participate in interdisciplinary rounds as needed. Provide supportive counseling, grief counseling, crisis intervention, and other therapeutic services to assist patients and families in facing challenges such as coping with illness, processing medical information, and adjusting to changes in functioning and care needs. Provide psychoeducation to patients and families about adaptation to diagnoses, illness, treatment, and prognosis. Assist patients and families in the transition from youth to adult services. Contribute to the overall mission and objectives of the department and hospital, including activities such as clinical supervision, training new employees, supporting pod members, representing the department in meetings, delivering educational presentations, assigning cases to pod members, and conducting quality assurance tasks such as chart review and competency reviews. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications – Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities, and possession of required licenses or certifications is qualifying. Education – A Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE‑accredited college or university program, or equivalent demonstration by licensure. Experience – Four (4) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. License/Certification – A valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Knowledge Apply theories, principles, and practices of medical social work and social services delivery systems in a hospital or medical center setting. Assess needs of patients and families using a data‑based approach. Manage a difficult and complex caseload while performing additional duties, maintaining confidentiality, and determining appropriate courses of action in emergencies and stressful situations. Provide written case narratives and reports. Apply effective assessment, interviewing, counseling techniques, and equitable distribution of resources. Know medical center resources to access and provide patient care needs, and advocate for clients. Understand the significance of cultural considerations for LPCH’s patient population. Know child development and the impact of injury and illness. Know family dynamics and the impact of injury, illness, and loss. Apply interventions founded in trauma‑informed, family‑centered, and strength‑based philosophies to address various coping styles seen in patients and families. Additional Information Pay Range Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary may also be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and internal equity and market data. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
