Health And Safety Manager

Our client in the construction industry is looking to bring on a full time Health and Safety Manager. This person will evaluate safety practices, conduct site inspections, lead training programs, and develop a site-specific safety program.

This person will sit onsite at their San Ramon office, but some travel around the East Bay will be required.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily safety inspection of the job site for hazards and compliance with safety requirements in the specifications and 8 CA Code of Regs
• Implement actions and programs to prevent/reduce the occurrence of emergencies/accidents/incidents.
• Inspect jobsites to ensure Company Safety Program and OSHA compliance
• Document safety inspections at every location where construction activity is active using a construction site safety inspection checklist
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and relevant bodies to promote a positive safety culture and stay aligned with industry trends.
• Conducts safety training, including new hire safety orientation, field safety training for Company and subcontractors, and mandatory training
• Develop the site-specific safety program (SSSP).
• Review work schedules including subcontractors', to ensure adequacy of job hazard analyses and address all safety concerns and issues

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in heavy construction safety
• Bachelors Degree highly preferred
• Cal/OSHA 30-hour construction training course certification required
• Ability to evaluate construction work activities with respect to safety and loss control
• Must have one of the following certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals: CSP, CHST, OHST
• This person must also complete first aid and CPR certifications
• Ability to recognize training needs and develop training in safety
• Knowledgeable in emergency procedures, related accidents, and mitigation.
