Respiratory Therapist RRT PRN Peds NICU

Position Overview PRN Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Pediatric NICU – minimum 2 night shifts per week. Responsible for delivering high‑quality respiratory care to neonates and pediatric patients in the NICU. Key Responsibilities Assess respiratory status and perform focused exams, interpret breath sounds and airway patency, and determine need for respiratory interventions. Deliver evidence‑based therapy including oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings. Manage ventilation and airways: assist with artificial airway placement, initiate and adjust invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitor patient responses, and respond quickly to clinical changes or emergencies. Support patients and care team by educating patients/families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed. Maintain equipment and safety: set up, operate, and clean respiratory equipment; ensure readiness and preventive maintenance; transport ventilated patients safely; and follow infection‑prevention standards. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Care program recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Minimum 1 year of respiratory care experience, including documented training in NICU and/or pediatrics. Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC upon hire. Licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) provider. Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 30 days of hire. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 90 days of hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred (requirements are facility‑based).
