Finance Specialist

Position Summary

Target Hiring Range: $23.65 - $25.03. The purpose of this position is to perform routine clerical, accounting, and administrative work in coordinating and processing all account payables. Other duties include reconciling accounts, preparing tax filings, assisting with audits, assisting with payroll, responding to inquiries, and preparing and processing journal entries.

Essential Job Functions

Prepares and enters payments to vendors by reviewing and distributing initial information, processing invoices, entering payment information, approving invoices, reviewing reports, processing checks and electronic payments, reviewing vendor setup, and assisting with audits and reporting processes. Reviews and verifies information by researching payment status, working with departments on invoices and invoice entry, and preparing department correspondence as necessary. Processes annual 1099 tax forms for vendors. Assists with payroll processing by transferring deposits to bank, transferring tax payments, verifying totals, preparing electronic payments to vendors and private parties, processing corresponding journal entries, and reporting information as required. Maintains records and files by reviewing information and filing documents.

Education and Experience

Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. Over one year up to and including three years of experience is required. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement. Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas. This position normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion. Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization. Intermediate ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Intermediate ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. Intermediate ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.

Work is performed in climate controlled office environment. Requires little physical effort in working with light, easy to handle material. Work performed requires sustained concentration and causes fatigue of eyes, fingers and other facilities because of fairly continuous use of motor senses. Requires sitting, walking, and standing.
