Position Summary The Administrative Support Assistant II provides administrative operations and front desk support for the College of Arts and Letters Student Success Center and Assistant Dean’s Office. Serving as the first point of contact for students, faculty, and external partners, this role interacts with a variety of campus entities and supports departmental leadership in a fast‑paced academic environment. Key Responsibilities Annual Events & Special Projects: administer and coordinate SDSU events and projects, maintain communication materials, and coordinate with campus partners and vendors. Scholarship Administrative Support: maintain tracking systems and records, facilitate communications among academic departments and Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, and assist with scholarship award documentation. Administration & Office Operations: coordinate front‑office scheduling, meetings, and communications, respond to front‑desk inquiries, and handle office operational needs. Outreach & Communications: support student success initiatives through the development, maintenance, and dissemination of digital communications and informational materials; respond to requests for information from prospective and current students, families, and campus partners. Student Petitions and Grievances: process and track student petitions and grievances, maintain confidential records, collaborate with campus offices, and stay current on university policies and procedures. Budget Support: assist with expenditure tracking, account reconciliation, processing purchasing and reimbursement transactions, and maintain accurate financial and procurement records. Data Collection & Analysis: collect, track, maintain, and compile data related to student success initiatives participation and operational needs. Why Join Us? Designated non‑exempt under FLSA and eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with possible variations based on operational needs. On‑campus work at SDSU in San Diego; eligible for telework after an initial training period. Education and Experience Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, a solid foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; understanding of standard office procedures; operation of office equipment; and basic mathematical calculations. These qualifications are normally obtained through completion of a high school program or equivalent experience in an office environment. Key Qualifications Proficiency with word processing and standard office software on PC‑based systems (including Microsoft Office Suite). Knowledge of effective office practices and procedures, with the ability to interpret and carry out instructions accurately. Ability to learn new tasks quickly, work with minimal supervision, and complete assignments accurately and professionally. Skill in managing multiple priorities, working effectively under pressure, and remaining productive amid frequent interruptions. Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and the public, including handling sensitive interactions. Compensation and Benefits Compensation: Step placement will be based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, aligning with the department’s budget and equity guidelines. Initial step placement not expected to exceed Step 3 ($3,709). CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,565 – $5,092 per month (Step 1 – Step 20). Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations. Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
