Patient Access Representative II Location: 3020 Childrens Way, San Diego, CA 92123 Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift 5x8 Hours (18:00 02:30) Schedule: Weekends Included Job Summary The Patient Access Representative II is responsible for securing and providing accurate information to patients, families, and funding sources. This includes registration, scheduling, and obtaining authorizations for inpatient, outpatient, and diagnostic services. The role requires strong customer service skills, the ability to build rapport with diverse populations, and proficiency in administrative and data entry tasks. Key Responsibilities Perform patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verification Obtain authorizations for services as required Ensure accurate data entry and documentation Communicate effectively with patients, families, and internal teams Maintain productivity and accuracy standards Utilize systems such as Epic and other healthcare platforms Requirements Experience in a fast-paced hospital or ER setting (preferred) Minimum: 2 years of healthcare experience, OR 1 year of experience in a specific department or call center environment Knowledge of: Managed care health plans Scheduling, registration, billing, and claims processes Insurance verification, eligibility, and authorization requirements Basic knowledge of medical terminology OR at least 6 months of healthcare experience Proficiency with computers and data entry Familiarity with Epic (preferred) High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Additional Expectations Ability to work in a high-volume Emergency Department environment Flexibility with scheduling and minimal requested time off (RTO) Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
