Job Opportunity – Neuro ICU Registered Nurse – Ohio

Start Date: October 19, 2026
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 36 hours per week; 2:1 patient ratio on days, nights, and weekends; weekend nights are Friday and Saturday (night shift)

Highlights:

• Neuro ICU specializing in stroke care, neurosurgery, and complex neurological conditions
• 13-week travel assignment with experienced interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, lift teams, and rapid response teams
• Epic EMR system utilized throughout the facility
• Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
• Access to advanced neuromonitoring equipment including EVD, ICP monitoring, and EEG
• Comprehensive orientation and collaborative team environment

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry, ventilator management, and intracranial pressure monitoring
• Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal supervisor)
• Flu vaccination required (medical exemptions only)

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities:

• Manage complex neuro ICU patient population including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhages, seizures, traumatic brain injuries, and post-operative neurosurgery patients
• Care for mechanically ventilated patients and those requiring invasive neuromonitoring
• Perform and manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, lumbar drains, and external ventricular drains (EVD)
• Administer blood products, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management
• CVA/acute stroke management and spinal cord injury care
• Interpret dysrhythmias, obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG, and manage complex cardiac rhythms
• Assist with bedside procedures including tracheostomy, PEG placement, and line insertions

Important Compliance Information:

• Ohio fingerprinting process must begin immediately upon contract signing – strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start date
• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to Ohio for fingerprinting as soon as possible after booking
• Former employees must have been away from the organization for 6 months or more to be eligible
• Requested time off must be identified at time of submission and built into contract
