Embark on a fulfilling contract assignment as a Sign Language Interpreter serving schools in the area northwestern of Columbia, South Carolina. This full-time role will primarily be at a location near Newberry, SC (approximately 40 minutes from Columbia), where you’ll provide vital communication access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Your skills in American Sign Language, along with your adaptability, will empower students to engage fully in their academic environment. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with educators, students, and families to foster inclusive learning experiences.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Credentialed or certified as a Sign Language Interpreter (national or state certification preferred)
• Previous experience interpreting in a school or educational setting is beneficial
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to interpret in a variety of classroom and school settings

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings between staff and students
• Facilitate clear communication between students, educators, and peers
• Adjust interpreting style to match individual student needs and age-appropriate language
• Adhere to professional standards and maintain confidentiality at all times
• Support students’ participation in extracurricular activities as needed
