About The Position The Clark County Clinical and Community Services Department is seeking qualified candidates for the Youth & Adult Intervention Specialist I/II position. The role involves conducting detailed assessments of youth and family clients exposed to or involved with the child welfare and juvenile justice system. The specialist performs in‑depth interviews with clients, families and other appropriate individuals, provides clinical screenings and assessments of mental health needs, offers youth stabilization services, coordinates clinical care for youth placed in treatment facilities, and provides crisis intervention and ongoing counseling for youth in child shelter, protective custody, detention or in‑home settings. Additional duties may include facilitating specialized court‑ordered evaluations for juvenile justice involved youth and clinical services for youth/families who have experienced victimization of sex trafficking. Youth & Adult Intervention Specialist I / II Youth & Adult Intervention Specialist I: $32.77 - $48.43 hourly Youth & Adult Intervention Specialist II: $35.38 - $52.32 hourly The Specialist I is a training underfill position; upon successful completion of the training program the candidate will be non‑competitively promoted to Specialist II. Minimum Requirements Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Community Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field. Experience: For Specialist II, in addition to the above, two (2) years of full‑time professional counseling experience, preferably with youth, adults and families; experience with the juvenile justice system is desirable. Working Conditions Attend meetings outside normal working hours. Work extended shifts or be called on 24‑hour basis in crisis situations. Work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. May work in a locked detention facility or a remote location. Provide in‑home crisis intervention in a variety of living situations. Licensing and Certification Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver’s License at time of appointment. Required positions must possess or be able to obtain an appropriate license to practice as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or other required certification in Nevada, obtained within four (4) years from date of hire. Substance Abuse Counselor certification is desirable. Background Investigation Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodic background investigations may be conducted after employment. Citizenship Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorship or transfers for any employment positions. Pre‑Employment Drug Testing Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre‑employment drug examination. Family Services and Juvenile Justice Services Conduct detailed assessments of youth and family clients referred through the Juvenile Court system, either in detention or protective custody facilities or in an in‑home setting. Conduct in‑depth interviews with clients, families and other appropriate individuals; administer psychometric tests and other assessment devices; confer with other staff regarding behavioral evidence and develop treatment plans. Provide crisis intervention on a 24‑hour basis and/or ongoing counseling for youth at detention facilities, child shelter, protective custody, office setting or in‑home basis; extend services to parents, guardians and other family members as required. Prepare recommendations for a variety of treatment options, including hospitalization, alternative living arrangements, short‑ and long‑term therapy, rehabilitation, education and other alternatives. Make and facilitate community‑based referrals, coordinate treatment and follow‑up as required; refer families for medical, social, economic and other services that enhance the treatment process. Develop case files and maintain accurate case notes; provide case management in specified areas of assignment. Conduct analytical studies; develop and review reports of findings, alternatives and recommendations; prepare written materials. Direct work and provide clinical supervision and training to interns and trainees after receiving necessary state certification. Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit’s service by offering suggestions and participating as an active member of a work team. Use standard office equipment, including a computer; drive a personal or County motor vehicle to various in‑home and community agency sites. Social Services Coordinate with Clark County Social Service contracted providers, community agencies and outreach teams that perform detailed assessments of youth and adult clients referred from various agencies. Facilitate and review in‑depth interviews completed by contracted providers and offer improvement recommendations. Review and consult with contracted providers who administer psychometric tests and other assessment devices; confer with staff regarding behavioral evidence and develop treatment plans. Prepare recommendations for a variety of treatment options, including hospitalization, alternative living arrangements, short‑ and long‑term therapy, rehabilitation, education and other alternatives. Make and facilitate community‑based referrals, coordinate treatment and follow‑up as required; refer youth and adults for medical, social, economic and other services that enhance the treatment process. Document work performed by contracted providers who develop case files and maintain accurate notes; provide case management in specified areas of assignment. Conduct analytical studies; develop and review reports of findings, alternatives and recommendations; prepare written materials. Provide direct service to social service programs that work with youth aging out of the Foster Care system. For Specialist II, oversee work and provide training to interns and trainees assigned to this functional area. Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit’s service by offering suggestions and participating as an active member of a work team. Use standard office equipment, including a computer; drive a personal or County motor vehicle to various in‑home and community agency sites. Vision to read printed materials and computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
