Currently, KIPP Michigan operates 1 school: KIPP Detroit Imani Academy [Elementary School]. KIPP Detroit Imani Academy is the state of Michigan’s first KIPP school. And the first KIPP school in the city of Detroit. KIPP Detroit Imani Academy opened in the fall of 2022 in the Warrendale neighborhood on the west side of Detroit. We believe the destiny of students from Detroit are limitless and students should not be bound by their circumstances. Unfortunately, in America, there is still a link between socioeconomic status and educational attainment. KIPP Detroit Imani Academy seeks to eradicate this injustice. For more data and information about our successes and vision for the future, visit Job Description In school year 2022-2023, KIPP Detroit Imani Academy Elementary launched with Kindergarten and has added grades each year; it will, eventually serve students in grades K-5. The founding team at KIPP Imani has included grade-level teachers, diverse learning teachers, paraprofessionals, and elective teachers. KIPP Imani is also supported by an operations team and student support team to ensure a strong foundation for the school’s continued growth. The Operations Manager [OM] is the face of the school and delivers first-class customer service to all constituents in the building, including students, parents, staff, and guests. The OM’s primary responsibilities are to operate a welcoming and efficient main office, to coordinate student enrollment and attendance, and to provide daily support to teachers and the school’s leadership team. Ideal candidates will have an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to develop and grow their impact; successful Operations Managers will have opportunities for promotion to roles on our growing Operations team with increased responsibility, scope, and salary. This is a full-time position that will report to the Director of Operations. RESPONSIBILITIES Student Recruitment, Enrollment, and Attendance Coordinate new student enrollment: assist in canvassing, process incoming leads and applications, send acceptance/waitlist letters, and assist parents with online enrollment Office, Facilities, and Supplies Create and maintain a neat, welcoming, and organized office environment Welcome parents and visitors, maintain visitor logs, ensure all visitors are accounted for in the building, and respond to visitor & parent requests Answer phones, redirect inquiries as appropriate, and relay messages to staff in a timely manner Provide excellent organization of students, vendors, and correspondence files. Ensure that copiers/printers are in working order and maintain teacher workroom/supply closet Ensure that teachers/staff have necessary supplies (which includes processing and fulfilling approved staff supply requests) Order, manage inventory, and process controls for supplies such as classroom materials, technology, and uniforms Receive, distribute, and prepare incoming/outgoing mail and shipments School Events, Daily Processes, and Communication Assist with coordination of school events Assist with daily arrival & dismissal process Assist with daily breakfast & lunch distribution and accounting Assist with emergency preparedness tasks and drills Assist with production and distribution of memos & newsletters Coordinate student health services: monitor student health and safety for any unusual/troubling trends, coordinate with site nurse to ensure that students receive appropriate care EXPECTATIONS Share a commitment to the success of the mission, vision and goals of the KIPP Detroit Imani Academy Demonstrate genuine concern for the students and the staff by maintaining high personal standards and strong work ethic Being consistent and reliable; attendance is an essential function to assure the proper operation of KIPP Detroit Imani Academy An understanding that organizational success is accomplished in collaboration and cooperation with teammates Maintain standards of professionalism and ethical behavior/decision-making that help create a results-driven culture of joy and belonging amongst teammates Attend workshops, professional development, seminars for continuous growth and improvement in serving KIPP Detroit Imani Academy Qualifications The minimum qualification for a Operations Manager are: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university or college (required) At least two years of administrative experience, preferably in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment Experience working in a school setting, urban setting preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and detail orientation Strong typing and technology skills, specifically with Microsoft Office and Google Drive Evidence of strong interpersonal skills Evidence of personal initiative and follow through Respect for diversity, cultural competence and self-awareness in relation to self and others A cleared Criminal Records Check All KIPP Michigan staff are required to provide documentation of full COVID-19 vaccination by or their start date (unless approved for medical or religious exemption). Additional Information KIPP Michigan is the Educational Service Provider to KIPP Detroit Imani Academy. As such, KIPP Michigan is the employer for this role.
