Monitor Technician

Job Summary Monitors telemetry patients for cardiac arrhythmia and notifies nurses of changes. Works at Entity Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA). Employment Details Worker Type: Employee – Sub-Type: Regular Cost Center: CC005271 ORBG – Telemetry Pay Rate Type: Hourly Pay Grade: Health-21 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36 Work Shift: Job Shift Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Candidates must have one of the following: Certification as an EKG technician or successful completion of a telemetry program from another facility. Patient Care Technician with EKG certification. One year experience in telemetry or completion of a basic arrhythmia program within 6 months. Previous experience as a monitor technician is preferred. Essential Functions Continuously monitor arrhythmias and notify staff of changes. Accurately document rhythm strips according to unit specifications. Measure and interpret cardiac rhythms accurately. Enter patient information and data into the telemetry/computer system. Communicate rhythm interpretations to nursing staff and providers. Access minimal risk medications and IV fluids from kits, trays, or automated dispensing units. Follow RMC Standards of Behaviors. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Stand for up to 12 hours, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, talk, hear, and smell. Lift or exert force up to 35 pounds, using patient transfer/lift devices when available. Require clear close vision (20 inches or less), distance vision (20 feet or more), color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Mental Requirements Read and understand simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Present information one‑on‑one or in small group settings to families, patients, visitors, or staff. Demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to meet the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related needs of the assigned work area.
