We are accepting applications for a full‑time Licensed Practical Nurse 2 at the Washington Soldiers Home in Orting, Washington. Position Overview Full‑time, Permanent. Work schedule: Friday through Tuesday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The position is not eligible for telework. Eligible for a 24/7 Facility Supplement Basic Shift Premium of $1.00 per hour. Responsibilities Prepare, carry out, evaluate, and revise treatment plans for individual residents based on personal observations and recommendations of physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other nurses. Pass medications and administer, monitor, and record treatments; assess resident condition (including skin assessment) and promote resident participation in recreational activities. Suction patients, administer oxygen, catheterization, irrigation; administer IV solutions, colostomy and trach care; maintain gastric feeding tubes and pumps. Process physician orders. Assist with routine rehabilitative and maintenance activities and additional tasks as required. Required Qualifications Current Washington state practical nurse license or unencumbered practical nurse multistate license. One year of experience as a practical nurse. Proficiency in English (read, write, speak). Data entry and confidentiality skills; ability to follow written and verbal directions; document and report changes in resident condition. Competencies: willingness to learn; meet the needs of others. Preferred Qualifications Washington state practical nurse license. Long‑term care experience. Knowledge of nursing and restorative care practices; record‑keeping; infection control; client rights. Experience in developing care plans. Special Requirements Pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two years as required by WDVA Policy 615.000. Comply with annual tuberculin screening per DVA policy 670.000. Maintain respirator and other personal protective equipment usage as required. Remain current on CPR certification. Lift up to 60 lbs; reach minimum 36 in; push or pull with sufficient strength; walk, sit, and bend unrestricted. Maintain a valid practical nursing license issued by the State of Washington Department of Health. Demonstrate reliable attendance and willingness to work as needed. Complete all mandatory orientation, training, and comply with DVA policies and collective bargaining agreements. Sign the confidentiality statement. If required to travel, possess a valid unrestricted driver’s license and vehicle insurance. Have work authorization that does not require employer sponsorship.
