Company & Role Overview

• Our client is a growing accounting and advisory firm seeking a Part-Time Accounting Manager to support its fractional controller and monthly accrual-basis accounting services.
\n
• The role serves as the primary point of contact for a dedicated portfolio of 4 to 6 clients, and is client-facing and hands-on, with light supervisory responsibility over the staff accountants supporting the same portfolio.
\n
• The ideal candidate translates technical accounting details into clear, confident guidance for clients through calls and email.
\n
• This is a remote position for candidates based in NC or TX, at 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule built around consistently meeting client needs, calls, deadlines, and close timelines.

Roles & Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of 4 to 6 clients on fractional controller and monthly accrual engagements, owning each client relationship end to end
\n
• Lead recurring client calls, field questions with confidence, and communicate proactively with clients
\n
• Review the work of staff accountants, providing guidance and feedback
\n
• Perform and oversee day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including recording transactions maintaining general ledger accuracy, and ensuring timely, accurate posting of financial data
\n
• Own the month-end and year-end close process for assigned clients, ensuring reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reports are accurate and timely
\n
• Analyze complex transactions across the client base, ensuring proper classification and treatment on the P&L and balance sheet
\n
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc analyses for clients and internal use
\n
• Perform and review reconciliations for all necessary accounts, including cash, AR, AP, and payroll
\n
• Identify process improvements and help implement best practices and technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy
\n
• Collaborate with partners and the tax team on timely, accurate completion of tax-related tasks, including data review for federal and state income tax returns and sales tax compliance

Skills & Requirements

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and/or 8+ years of relevant accounting experience including supervisory or review responsibilities
\n
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated comfort leading client calls and presenting financial information to non-accountants
\n
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP and experience implementing accounting policies and procedures
\n
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management
\n
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Google Sheets (or similar software)
\n
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
\n
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet firm deadlines
\n
• Demonstrated trustworthiness and high ethical standards
\n
• Willingness to learn, adapt to new software, and contribute to a collaborative team environment
\n
• Preferred: prior client-facing accounting, controller, or advisory experience; experience with monthly accrual-basis close for multiple clients; and familiarity with tools beyond QuickBooks (Ramp, Gusto, etc.)
