Role Description The Compensation Analyst is a full-time, on-site role based in Kansas City, MO. This position is responsible for analyzing and maintaining the City’s compensation structures, including evaluating positions, reviewing pay practices, and supporting salary administration. Daily tasks include collecting and interpreting compensation data, preparing reports, conducting market surveys, and assisting with job classification reviews. The role collaborates with HR partners and department leaders to ensure pay programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned with policy and budget requirements. The Compensation Analyst also helps implement compensation-related policies, supports annual salary review processes, and responds to inquiries from stakeholders with clear, data-driven guidance. Qualifications Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including experience working with HR or compensation data, spreadsheets, and reports. Knowledge of compensation principles, job evaluation methods, salary structures, and market pricing practices. Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data visualization or reporting tools is beneficial. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information to non-technical audiences. Attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to handle confidential information responsibly. Experience collaborating with HR teams, managers, and cross-functional stakeholders in a professional setting. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field, or a high school diploma and five (5) years of human resources experience.
