Banquet Captain

Doubletree Portland is seeking a dedicated and experienced Banquet Captain to oversee and coordinate our event catering services. Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of banquet events, including setup, service, and breakdown

- Lead and motivate banquet staff to ensure high standards of service and professionalism

- Collaborate with event planners and clients to understand event requirements and special requests

- Ensure timely and accurate execution of event timelines and service sequences

- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards in banquet areas

- Manage inventory and ensure proper setup of tables, linens, and equipment

- Address and resolve any issues or guest concerns promptly and professionally

- Assist with training and development of banquet staff to uphold service excellence

Skills and Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Banquet Captain or similar role in hospitality or event management

- Able to lift, push and pull 75lbs or more

- Strong leadership and team management skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and handle multiple events simultaneously

- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards

- Attention to detail and organizational skills

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

- High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or related certification preferred

Requirements:

· Provide guests with the finest quality of service at all times and in a warm and enthusiastic manner.

· Continuously monitor the guest’s service level and comfort at all times.

· Have a comprehensive knowledge of all menu items, specials, beverages, wines, etc.

· Serve all items utilizing appropriate china, glassware, silverware, garnish, and condiments.

· Immediately relay guest compliments or complaints to management.

· Meet with function group leader to determine last minute changes and discuss various setup arrangements.

· Ensure proper cleaning of all equipment after function is completed.

· Supervise assigned banquet personnel throughout functions.

· Assist staff with room set ups, food service, and clean up when necessary.

· Maintain StepStone and hotel standards of food, beverage, and quality guest service.

· Ensure guest satisfaction by delivery of an exceptional product.

· Complete Supply Requisitions

· Create Bill and deliver to client for review and editing
