Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller is a key leadership position of this accounting team and supports the Controller in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations. This individual is expected to provide strong leadership and direction to the accounting team while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This is a hands-on position responsible for the monthly close, account reconciliations, journal entry review, internal controls, staff supervision, and audit support.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close.
• Review journal entries for GAAP, accuracy, proper support, and approval.
• Review reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are resolved timely.
• Reconcile and review intercompany transactions and balances.
• Assist with preparation and review of financial statements and consolidated reporting.
• Review accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, debt, leases, payroll, and benefit accounts.
• Investigate unusual balances and discrepancies.
• Supervise and review the work of the accounting team.
• Assist with accounts payable, cash management, and general accounting activities, as needed.
• Maintain strong internal controls and appropriate supporting documentation.
• Assist with annual audits and preparation of audit schedules.
• Improve and streamline accounting processes and procedures.
• Provide backup support to the Controller.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• CPA required
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Multi-company and intercompany accounting experience.
• Strong reconciliation, financial reporting, and Excel skills.
• ERP accounting-system experience; Sage experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, motivate, and hold a team accountable.

Compensation $115,000-$140,000 depending on experience
