Outside Sales Representative (Custom Sales) The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing new business, managing client relationships, and delivering customized lighting solutions to homebuilders and homeowners. This role combines direct selling with project oversight, requiring strong relationship management, product expertise, and coordination with internal teams to ensure successful execution from proposal through project completion. Legend Lighting is a family-owned lighting distributorship and showroom serving homebuilders, interior designers, and homeowners in Austin, Texas, and the surrounding areas. Our company was founded in 2008 and has grown to 25 employees while building a strong reputation as a leader in our local marketplace and our industry. The responsibilities for this position include: Generate new business opportunities and expand relationships with homebuilders, contractors, and homeowners. Meet or exceed sales targets through proactive prospecting, networking, and client engagement. Lead client consultations to understand project needs and recommend customized lighting solutions. Prepare and present detailed sales proposals, including product specifications and pricing. Negotiate pricing, terms, and close sales effectively. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the lifecycle of each project. Oversee project progress from initial consultation through order fulfillment and completion. Ensure accuracy of proposals, estimates, and final invoices. Coordinate with internal teams (purchasing, warehouse, and operations) to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Monitor open invoices and follow up with clients to ensure timely payment. Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with customers to drive repeat business and referrals. Address customer inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly and professionally. Assist clients with scheduling, product selections, and project updates. Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by proactively managing expectations and communication. Develop deep knowledge of all product lines, vendor offerings, and lighting solutions. Provide expert guidance on lighting design and turnkey services. Stay informed on industry trends, new products, and competitive offerings. Work closely with sales support, purchasing, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless project execution. Provide clear and accurate information to internal teams regarding client needs and project specifications. Participate in sales meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
