Executive Medical Director, Global Medical (Nephrology)

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks an Executive Medical Director to lead global medical strategy and implementation for nephrology. This senior role reports to the VP of Global Medical, overseeing disease area strategy, scientific excellence, external partnerships, and cross-functional alignment with clinical development and commercial teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and execute integrated medical plans including publication and evidence generation strategies
- Establish medical KPIs and track impact on asset strategy and patient outcomes
- Serve as primary scientific and product expert for nephrology disease area globally
- Lead peer-reviewed publication development and scientific communications for congresses and advisory boards
- Engage key opinion leaders and represent Vertex at scientific forums and medical societies
Requirements
- Advanced degree in medicine, pharmacy, or life sciences with extensive pharmaceutical experience
- Proven leadership experience managing global medical affairs teams and strategies
- Deep expertise in nephrology disease area and clinical trial design
- Strong scientific communication skills for diverse internal and external audiences
- Experience developing integrated medical plans and evidence generation strategies
- Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional alignment and stakeholder engagement
