Executive Medical Director, Clinical Development- Immunology

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks an Executive Medical Director for Clinical Development in Immunology to lead the clinical strategy for povetacicept and shape the broader immunology portfolio. The role requires deep expertise in immune-mediated diseases and experience managing global clinical development programs across regulatory interactions and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary physician voice for povetacicept franchise and immunology portfolio decisions
Design, plan, and oversee global clinical development activities and protocol development
Lead cross-functional meetings and represent clinical development across research, regulatory, and commercial functions
Interface with international regulatory authorities and support regulatory submissions and compliance
Manage medical monitoring, adverse event evaluation, and data reviews for clinical studies

Requirements

15+ years pharmaceutical industry experience including clinical trial design and oversight
7+ years people management and staff leadership experience
Board certification or eligibility in immunology or rheumatology
Experience with global regulatory agencies (EMA, Health Canada, TGA, PMDA, CDE)
Knowledge of biostatistics, data management, clinical operations, and pharmacology
IND and NDA filing and defense experience in US and international markets
Excellent written and oral communication skills

Compensation: $320,000 - $480,000 base
