Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 200 ranked national law firm seeking a 2nd year and above Corporate M&A and Private Equity Associate to join its Chicago office on a hybrid basis. This is a transactional role for an associate who wants steady exposure to sponsor side deal work and complex corporate matters, with meaningful drafting responsibility and direct collaboration with partners and senior associates. The firm offers a well established national platform and a collaborative, team oriented approach to advising sophisticated clients. The practice supports pro bono and internal firm contributions as part of an engaged professional culture. The Opportunity You will support a busy corporate team on private equity focused M&A transactions, including diligence, drafting and negotiating key deal documents, managing workstreams, and coordinating with specialists across the firm as needed. Ideal Candidate Profile The firm is seeking a 2nd year and above Corporate M&A and Private Equity Associate with: At least 2 years of corporate transactional experience with substantial M&A and private equity deal exposure Strong drafting skills across primary and ancillary transaction documents, with careful attention to detail Ability to run discrete workstreams efficiently, including diligence review and issue spotting Illinois Bar admission, or the ability to obtain Illinois admission in a timely manner Comfort working in a hybrid schedule with regular in office presence in Chicago Why This Opportunity Stands Out This role offers the chance to develop within a sophisticated corporate group handling high value private equity transactions on a national platform, with hands on training, real ownership of deliverables, and consistent partner access in a team environment.
