Senior Accountant (SSO Division – Location: Irvine, CA) Position Summary Applies principles of accounting to analyze a variety of financial information of moderate scope and complexity and prepares financial reports. Responsible for the accuracy, integrity, control and timeliness of financial reports, transactions, systems, and processes. SCOPE/SUPERVISION AND INTERACTION: Has Direct Reports __X__ Does Not Have Direct Reports Essential Functions Prepare general ledger, asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing moderately complex account information. Recommend financial actions to management by analyzing accounting options. Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and other management reports. Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents. Verify and analyze business records, transactions, and procedures. Maintain accounting controls by auditing compliance with and recommending policies and procedures. Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information. Maintain financial security by following accounting policies and internal controls. Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting a variety of accounting policies and regulations. Prepare moderately complex financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential. Apply continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing professional networks, and/or participating in professional societies. Comply with federal and state legal requirements and professional standards. Study existing and new legislation, enforce adherence to requirements, and advise management on needed actions. Share specialized accounting knowledge with others. Represent organization on specific projects. Mentor new employees. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement). Additional Responsibilities Reconciliation of customer accounts Collection and application of customer payments Maintain accounts receivable customer files Investigate and resolve customer queries and payment irregularities Process adjustments to customer accounts Develop and maintain a positive, professional working relationship with customers Support month-end close process Reporting and analysis Develop and implement process improvements Some travel may be required to customers and/or other Parker sites (0%-10%). Qualifications Bachelor's degree (BS) in Accounting. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 2+ years of related experience. 3+ years Accounts Receivable and General Ledger Accounting experience. Aerospace industry experience preferred but not required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
