Registered Nurse/Assistant Nurse Manager

Summary The Community Care Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties, managing the 24/7 operation of designated units, and providing coverage for other ANMs as needed. Qualifications English Language Proficiency in written and spoken English. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by ACEN or CCNE, or completion of a master’s level bridge program equivalent to a bachelor's in Nursing. State license in a U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth (or D.C.). Foreign nursing graduates must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration, and may need a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA. Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception for candidates meeting education but lacking licensure, appointed temporarily while pursuing licensure. Grade determinations and scope of duty are detailed in the VA qualification standard; refer to for more information. Duties Draft schedules and leave for final approval by the NM. Provide input on employee performance with final evaluation completed by the NM. Assist with recommendations for candidate selection for employment. Apply clinical knowledge and judgment to lead staff planning, decision‑making, and outcome evaluation. Provide feedback to the NM to ensure nursing personnel deliver timely care compliant with accepted practice standards. Oversee work assignments and provide reports or fact‑finding assistance to assist the NM with counseling or disciplinary decisions.
