Clinical Lab Technologist - Permanent - Full TimeLocation: Bronx, NY AreaShift: Night Scheduled Hours: 12 AM-8 AMJob Overview:The Clinical Lab Technologist will perform routine and emergency tests on blood and other body fluids using a variety of automated and manual instrumentation in a timely manner. Maintain equipment and records according to department procedures and regulatory agencies guidelines in the areas of QA and QC. Use independent judgment to solve technical and procedural problems. Monitor specimens to ensure work is completedReview data prior to releaseReport all panic, abnormal, etc. values Maintain quality control data on tests performed, resolve QC failures and document actions as stipulated by laboratory proceduresPrepare reagents and take inventory, and advise supervisor as requiredMaintain all records of work performed and keep maintenance logs of equipment Assist with answering the telephone and perform order entry in the LIS system, as necessaryMay have individual responsibility for the work of a laboratory unit and may provide leadership for techniciansAssist with the training of new employeesMaintain clean work area in accordance with Infection Control guidelines Perform other laboratory related tasks under the direction of a supervisor as neededJob Requirements:Education - Position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in a physical science, medical technology preferredCertificate/License - New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit are required. Applicants must obtain the provisional permit within the probationary period of three month for continued employment. Prior to obtaining the provisional permit, associates may not release any patient reports.
