Senior Software Test Engineer

Element Biosciences seeks a Senior Software Test Engineer to ensure quality and reliability of software across its sequencing ecosystem. The role involves designing and executing verification activities for complex features spanning instrument software, firmware, hardware, and cloud services in a regulated product environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, and independently execute verification activities for complex software features and workflows
• Translate requirements, user needs, and product risks into traceable test strategies and comprehensive test plans
• Perform functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing across instrument and cloud-based interfaces
• Configure and maintain test environments; isolate and troubleshoot defects using logs and reproducible evidence
• Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate test coverage, resolve integration issues, and communicate quality risks to stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, bioengineering, or equivalent experience
• 3–5 years hands-on software or systems test experience
• Life-science, medical-device, or laboratory-instrumentation product testing experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Linux, command-line tools, log analysis, and SQL or NoSQL databases
• Experience testing integration among software, firmware, hardware, and cloud services
• Scripting or test-automation experience (Python, TypeScript, or similar) preferred
• Background working within regulated software development lifecycle and design controls
