Shipyard Construction Manager (Vessel New Build & Delivery)

Overview Job Summary The ideal candidate will possess extensive shipyard experience, demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, and thrive in a hands-on, high-responsibility environment. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in a dynamic, fast-paced shipbuilding setting with significant visibility across operations and executive leadership. Responsibilities Lead daily shipyard activities during vessel construction and commissioning phases. Coordinate labor, subcontractors, and vendors to adhere to project schedules. Oversee installation, outfitting, and system integration activities. Act as the primary liaison with classification societies, inspectors, and owners’ representatives. Ensure compliance with USCG, ABS, OSHA, and safety standards. Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective measures. Lead commissioning efforts, including dock trials, sea trials, and final delivery. Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams. Manage documentation, reporting, and change orders efficiently. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the yard. Requirements Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in shipyard or marine construction. Proven track record overseeing new vessel construction and commissioning. Strong knowledge of shipyard trades, sequencing, and vessel systems. Experience working with USCG, ABS, and other classification requirements. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Demonstrated leadership and team coordination skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Nice To Have Skills Experience managing multiple vessels or large-scale programs. Background working directly with vessel owners and regulatory inspectors. Hands-on experience with commissioning and sea trials. Preferred Education And Experience Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field preferred.
