Senior Planning & Development Officer - Shape Communities

Overview At the City of Newcastle, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Development Officer to play a pivotal role in the assessment and determination of development applications, with a strong focus on their impact on the natural, built and social environments. You will provide high‑level professional advice to internal and external customers, committees and working parties on development proposals, statutory requirements, CN policies, and general planning matters. Responsibilities Assess and determine development applications, focusing on their impact on the environment and community. Provide professional advice and support to internal and external customers, committees and working parties. Train, coach and mentor colleagues to enhance team skills and promote a compliance‑focused culture. Qualifications Requires substantial experience and demonstrated passion for planning and development in a broad range of project types, including precinct, transport and major residential, industrial and commercial proposals.
