RN - OB | Registered Nurse Obstetrics

As a Registered Nurse specializing in OB, you will deliver direct patient care using the nursing process, demonstrating clinical competence and adhering to professional nursing ethics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a safe care environment.
• Maintain and care for central lines and prevent surgical site infections following policy guidelines.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient and family education to support quality outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and communicate accurate information to the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance with quality standards.
• Effectively communicate patient information to physicians and team members to improve outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families promptly to enhance their experience and support health education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing school is required.

Experience

One year of nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Certification and Licensure

• Current RN license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

Requires considerable mental concentration. Physical activities include lifting up to 35 lbs., turning, standing, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, and frequent walking.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
