Position Overview
Allegiance Health Management is seeking a Payroll/HRIS Specialist to join our Corporate Payroll and HRIS team.
This position provides front-line support for Payroll and HRIS operations across multiple facilities and plays an important role in maintaining payroll accuracy, employee data integrity, and the effective use of UKG systems.
The Payroll/HRIS Specialist works closely with the Director of Payroll, Director of HRIS, facility HR teams, and other corporate departments. Responsibilities may include payroll processing, employee record maintenance, responding to HRIS questions, researching UKG issues, managing support tickets, running reports, testing system changes, and assisting users with established Payroll and HRIS processes.
This position serves as an initial point of contact for many Payroll and HRIS questions and issues. The Specialist is expected to research and resolve routine matters using established procedures and available resources while appropriately escalating complex system, configuration, integration, security, or policy-related matters to Payroll or HRIS leadership.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where accuracy, organization, teamwork, good judgment, and strong follow-through are important.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Information Systems, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of related HRIS and payroll experience required.
- Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Experience with UKG Pro Workforce Management (WFM/Dimensions) strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting payroll processing, timekeeping, employee record maintenance, or HRIS transactions preferred.
- Working knowledge of common UKG processes such as new hires, rehires, transfers, job changes, terminations, employee maintenance, reporting, and troubleshooting preferred.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn new systems, processes, and functionality.
- Strong troubleshooting, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures while recognizing when an issue requires escalation to Payroll or HRIS leadership.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies or potential data integrity issues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer-service mindset and ability to assist users with varying levels of system knowledge.
- Ability to work collaboratively with corporate departments and facility HR teams.
- Ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Support
- Support payroll processing for employees across multiple facilities, including regular and off-cycle payrolls.
- Review and maintain payroll-related employee information, including new hires, rehires, transfers, pay changes, deductions, and terminations.
- Review payroll information for accuracy and identify discrepancies requiring correction or additional review.
- Assist with payroll corrections, adjustments, audits, and reconciliation.
- Support administration of deductions, garnishments, benefits, taxes, and other payroll-related items.
- Prepare payroll reports and supporting documentation as needed.
- Assist with internal and external payroll audits.
- Provide backup coverage and cross-training within the Payroll team.
- Escalate unusual or complex payroll matters to Payroll leadership as appropriate.
HRIS / UKG Support
- Provide front-line functional support for HRIS Systems. ( UKG Pro and UKG Pro Workforce Management (WFM))
- Receive, research, troubleshoot, document, and resolve routine HRIS and payroll system questions and issues.
- Support HRIS ticket management from initial request through resolution or escalation.
- Communicate with facility HR teams and other users regarding questions, troubleshooting steps, resolution status, and follow-up.
- Maintain employee, job, department, organizational, and other system data as assigned and according to established procedures.
- Assist with user access and security requests under the direction of HRIS leadership.
- Review employee information across UKG Pro and WFM to identify potential data discrepancies or synchronization issues.
- Gather relevant information, screenshots, examples, and supporting documentation when issues require escalation.
- Assist with new hires, rehires, transfers, multi-hires, secondary positions, employment changes, separations, etc., and other employee record transactions.
- Perform routine system and data audits to identify discrepancies and help maintain data integrity.
- Create and run established HRIS and payroll reports and assist with report requests as assigned.
- Follow established HRIS procedures, documentation, and change-control processes.
- Escalate complex system, configuration, integration, security, or data issues to HRIS leadership.
- Breakdown and process HRIS invoices.
System Testing & Projects
- Assist HRIS leadership with testing UKG system changes, upgrades, integrations, new functionality, and configuration changes.
- Complete assigned test scenarios and document results, discrepancies, and unexpected system behavior.
- Assist with system validation following approved changes or deployments.
- Support UKG upgrades, system enhancements, implementations, and other HR technology projects as assigned.
- Gather information and document examples when system or integration issues are identified for escalation and further review.
- Assist with system clean-up and data validation projects.
- Help create and maintain procedures, job aids, reference guides, training materials, and other system documentation.
Training & Facility Support
- Serve as a front-line Payroll and HRIS resource for facility HR teams and other UKG users.
- Provide step-by-step assistance with routine Payroll, timekeeping, employee record, and UKG questions.
- Help train users on established Payroll and HRIS processes and system functionality.
- Communicate established procedures, system changes, and best practices clearly.
- Assist facilities with researching and correcting routine employee data or system issues.
- Recognize issues that fall outside established procedures and escalate them appropriately.
- Follow up with users to confirm issues have been resolved and support tickets can be closed.
- Maintain clear and professional communication throughout the support process.
Team & Process Support
- Cross-train with Payroll and HRIS team members to provide backup coverage.
- Identify recurring questions, errors, or process challenges and bring them to Payroll or HRIS leadership for review.
- Assist with audits, special projects, system clean-up initiatives, implementations, and organizational changes.
- Support Payroll and HRIS leadership with research, documentation, data gathering, testing, and follow-up.
- Collaborate with Payroll, HR, IT, Finance, facility HR teams, and other departments as needed.
- Assist with reports, vendor documentation, administrative tasks, and other team responsibilities as assigned.
- Perform additional Payroll and HRIS support duties based on organizational needs.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the support process without being expected to independently own the HRIS environment.
A successful Payroll/HRIS Specialist will be able to research an issue, gather the necessary information, resolve routine matters within established procedures, communicate clearly with the user, and provide Payroll or HRIS leadership with organized documentation when an issue requires escalation.
This position is a strong fit for someone who is comfortable moving between payroll support, employee data, system troubleshooting, reporting, testing, documentation, and end-user support while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
Work Environment
This position is based in the Allegiance Health Management corporate office in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Most work is office-based, although occasional travel to facilities may be required. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, and the position requires the ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
