Classroom Assistant | Allentown, Pennsylvania

Job Description

Step into an impactful role supporting students and educators in Lehigh County as a compassionate and dedicated paraprofessional or instructional assistant. This contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 school year, offering flexible assignments in both school-age and early intervention classrooms, with start dates available as soon as possible through June 2027 (following the school calendar). Placements will be within Lehigh County and will be matched based on current district needs and, when possible, candidate preferences.

Immediate openings focus on multiple disabilities support classrooms—ranging from functional to behavioral support settings. Candidates should expect their day to be dynamic and deeply rewarding, working closely with students who benefit from consistency, empathy, and patience.

Qualifications & Credentials

Minimum 1 year of experience as a paraprofessional, instructional assistant, or in a special education/school setting
Meet at least one of Pennsylvania’s paraprofessional requirements:
- 48+ completed college credits, or
- Associate degree or higher, or
- Child Development Associate (CDA) or PA Credential of Competency for Special Education Paraeducators
Willingness to complete paraprofessional certification within 60 days if not already qualified
Reliable transportation and ability to commute to Lehigh County schools (30-35 minute max commute)
Able to consistently work school-day hours (approx. 7:00 AM–3:30 PM)
Comfortable supporting students with a wide range of physical, behavioral, and personal care needs

Assist with academic, behavioral, and functional student goals
Aid in daily routines, including lifting, feeding, toileting, and personal care as needed
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners
