Internal Audit Intern

The Tone: This is an internship at Selective Insurance, located in Short Hills, NJ (Hybrid). Selective is a midsized U.S. domestic property and casualty insurance company with a history of strong, consistent financial performance for nearly 100 years. This role matters as interns contribute to evaluating internal controls, which is vital for Selective's mission to serve customers responsibly by helping to mitigate loss, keep them safe, and restore their lives and businesses after an insured loss occurs. The TL;DR Role: Internship Type: Full-time Location: Hybrid - Short Hills, NJ Pay: $22-$25 hourly Team: Internal Audit team within Selective's corporate Legal Department Mission: Evaluate the design and test the effectiveness of internal controls over various processes within Selective. Tech Stack: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint What You'll Actually Do Support Audit Engagements: Assist in planning and executing audit procedures, including gathering documentation and testing controls. Analyze Audit Data: Analyze data to assess operational and financial risks during audit engagements. Evaluate Internal Controls: Review processes and control activities to identify potential weaknesses, inefficiencies, or compliance issues. Document Audit Findings: Prepare workpapers and summarize audit results, documenting findings clearly and concisely. Collaborate on Improvements: Collaborate with auditors and business stakeholders to support recommendations for process improvements and risk mitigation. The Must-Haves Background: Current college student majoring in Finance or a related field. High School Diploma required. Ideal candidates will be full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors. Experience: Ability to perform at a professional level. Skills: Demonstrated interest in learning about the insurance industry. Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred.
