Registered Nurse

El Paso Center for Diabetes is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team and help advance our mission of improving the health and quality of life of individuals and families throughout El Paso County. The Registered Nurse will play an important role in supporting the Center’s diabetes education programs, community outreach initiatives, special projects, and other programs. This position will work closely with the Lead Dietitian and Center staff to provide high-quality diabetes education, support individuals and families in managing their health, and contribute to the delivery and growth of evidence-based programs. Key Responsibilities Support and participate in the Center’s diabetes education and community programs. Provide diabetes education to individuals, families, and community groups. Collaborate with the Lead Dietitian and other team members on educational programs, special initiatives, and projects. Provide appropriate clinical support and patient education related to diabetes management and prevention. Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of Center programs and special projects. Serve as a resource to the community by responding to program-related inquiries and providing accurate health and diabetes information. Ensure programs and services are delivered in accordance with organizational policies, applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards. Contribute information and educational content for the Center’s website, newsletter, and other communication materials. Maintain current knowledge of diabetes education, evidence-based practices, healthcare trends, and relevant policies. Incorporate current diabetes-management strategies and best practices into educational programs. Develop knowledge of nonprofit programs, leadership, and community health strategies. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications & Education Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or diabetes education certification preferred/required as applicable. Experience in diabetes education, community health, public health, or a related healthcare setting is highly desirable. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. Advanced knowledge of diabetes education and management. Knowledge of local, state, and national diabetes issues, trends, and community health needs. Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret and communicate technical and health-related information to diverse audiences. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, healthcare professionals, community partners, regulatory agencies, and the public. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common computer applications. Ability and willingness to learn new software and technology as needed. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for business-related travel. Full-time, exempt position In-person position based in a medical office and community setting. Flexible schedule required, including occasional evenings and weekends. Frequent travel throughout the El Paso region is required. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Frequent computer use and repetitive hand/wrist motion. Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, and move throughout an office and community environment. Ability to perform duties in both an office setting and community-based locations.
