Location: Mulberry, FL, US Company: Black & Veatch / Overland Contracting Inc Job Title: 4230 - Solar - Foreman Job Summary Direct and supervise the planning, lay‑out, installation, testing and repair of all aspects of solar photovoltaic construction including electrical and civil components in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Plan and coordinate the efforts of the craft workers under his/her supervision and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Perform all of the principal duties and accountabilities of craft workers under supervision. Conduct toolbox meetings, implement safety measures, and communicate safety concerns, work scope, plans and schedules to crews. Assure daily STA is completed prior to the start of work. Lead and support all safety related processes and programs as requested. Engage with the work team to ensure zero injuries and maintain safety standards. Use stop work authority when necessary and monitor crews for heat‑related injuries. Understand scheduling, material control and unit man‑hour performance reporting for a crew. Create and execute a one‑week schedule and set crew goals based on project unit rates. Complete timecards for correct hours and phase coding on a daily basis. Report all accidents and near misses, participate in investigations, and review causes with employees. Hold crews accountable for safe working behaviors and conditions. Lead, complete, and sign off on daily pre‑job safety planning and identify hazards, taking corrective action. Provide on‑the‑job training to supervised individuals. Understand site map, plan tasks, and ensure an adequate supply of tools, materials and equipment. Develop a thorough understanding of project plans, specifications, and schedule related to tasks assigned. Perform quantity report collection daily/weekly and ensure accurate reporting. Inspect subordinate’s work for compliance with contract plans, specifications, and industry standards. Ensure correct construction procedures are followed during installation. Maintain daily equipment inspections and perform performance reviews of craft workers. Management Responsibilities None specified. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a supervisor. One or more of the following certifications: NCCER Solar Photovoltaic Installer, NCCER Electrician, NCCER Concrete Finishing, NCCER Carpenter. Minimum Qualifications Must have working experience as a Solar Technician with a strong working knowledge of Solar Photovoltaic construction. Must set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity. Ability to understand and follow directions; must have all necessary tools. Minimum age 18 years. Applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, etc.) Certifications NCCER Solar Photovoltaic Installer, NCCER Electrician, NCCER Concrete Finishing, NCCER Carpenter. Work Environment/Physical Demands Physical Demands: Lift and carry heavy items up to 52 pounds. Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and move in confined or uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility. Use hands to handle tools or controls according to procedure. Repetitive movements. Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. Work up to a 12‑hour shift in varying temperature extremes. Walk extensively during shift. Wear PPE such as Kevlar sleeves if required. Work in cramped spaces and awkward positions. Operate in very hot (above 90 F) or very cold (below 32 F) temperatures and inclement weather. Operate in bright or inadequate lighting conditions. Exposed to distracting or uncomfortable noise levels. Work around hazardous equipment and high places. This is a safety‑sensitive position.
