Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Med Surg

Schedule

Shifts: 19000700 (alternate shift 07001900 noted). Weekend requirement: Every other weekend. Holiday requirement: Available every other holiday, if needed.

Assignment Details

Contract length: 13 weeks. Daily census: ~26; 27 beds on unit. Typical patient ratio: Days 1:56; Nights/Weekends 1:6.

Requirements

Active New York LPN license (pending license NOT accepted).
Required certification: BLS.
Minimum 1 year recent experience in acute care within the last 2 years.
Experience in telemetry/medical-surgical preferred.
EPIC experience required.
Key clinical skills: Medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube), IV pumps, blood glucose monitoring, oxygen via nasal cannula, telemetry monitoring, 12-lead EKG, feeding tube management, Foley catheter insertion, specimen collection/labeling, vital signs, pain assessment, I&O monitoring, isolation precautions, restraints, and basic wound care.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care to adult and geriatric medical patients.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
Monitor patient conditions and report changes to the healthcare team.
Assist with diagnostic testing and interpret results.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Educate patients and families on disease management and care plans.

Compliance / Notes

Orientation: 16 hours. Call-off policy: Client may cancel up to 3 shifts during a 13-week contract without charge.
