Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a PCU night shift position requiring 2 years of cardiac experience and an NC or compact RN license.

Details

PCU/Cardiac Telemetry unit caring for cardiac and vascular surgical patients

Patient diagnoses include AFib, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis

Supports special procedures including CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, amputations, and post cath/EP procedures

Uses specialized equipment such as arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-Stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires

Utilizes Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR communication

Night shift, 3x12 hours (6:45 PM-7:15 AM), with option for 36 or 48 hour contracts

Patient ratio of 1:6

Weekend coverage required (4 shifts per 4 weeks)

Floating required as needed

No on-call requirements

Requirements

Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending acceptable at submission

BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred

Minimum 2 years of cardiac med/surg telemetry or step-down experience required

Epic charting experience preferred

Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial and central line management, peripheral line care, and chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)

Experience with cardiac drip management, sheath removal, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management

Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and non-invasive airway management preferred

Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Additional Information

Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including sheath management, dysrhythmia monitoring, and post-procedure care for cardiac and vascular surgical patients

May be assigned to Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Scrubs required: navy blue pants with white top

Unit orientation is 24 hours with weekly orientation sessions

Must complete pre-start and annual online training modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles)

Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays

RTO of up to 7 days can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment

Maximum of 7 days RTO accepted; no RTO allowed to be worked out onsite

First-time travelers considered only if they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience

Former Novant Health/New Hanover PERM, PRN, or EP employees must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details

Travel pairs allowed if on different units with separate schedules and own transportation

Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower local rate
