Research Analyst (IR Reporting and Compliance)

Research Analyst (IR Reporting and Compliance) Rutgers University is seeking a Research Analyst for the Office of Institutional Research. The Analyst reports to the Director and contributes to OIRDS's core responsibility for producing accurate, consistent, and defensible internal and external reports on faculty, students, staff, and other critical academic, physical, and financial information. Responsibilities Apply institutional research knowledge and sound judgment to interpret reporting requirements. Validate and reconcile data outputs. Ensure compliance‑aligned deliverables that meet leadership and external reporting standards. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics, statistics, social science, or related field. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience developing reports, dashboards, indicators, and key performance measures, preferably in higher education or another public‑sector setting. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience using querying tools (GUI or code) against large relational databases and multi‑dimensional concepts. Experience with SAS or SPSS (or similar data management and statistical programming tools) and advanced use of Tableau. Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, cross‑tab queries, etc.). Analytical and conceptual problem‑solving skills with sound judgment for reporting purposes. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Collaborative and collegial working style with faculty and staff. Ability to work independently. Comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives on data usage. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in applied mathematics, statistics, social science, or related scientific field. Experience with MS SQL and Oracle databases. Strong technical aptitude and desire to keep up with the latest data‑management advancements. Experience working with data in a higher education context.
