This role maintains and repairs a wide range of production equipment and systems in a large manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Mechanic ensures that CNC machines, EDMs, lathes, Swiss machines, water jets, robotic systems, presses, and related equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently through proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and collaboration with production and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC machines, EDMs, lathes, mills, CNC Swiss machines, water jets, robotic systems, presses, and other manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues on production equipment.

• Interpret and use blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to perform accurate repairs, adjustments, and installations.

• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and systems to identify potential issues and ensure safe, reliable operation.

• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance, repairs, parts used, and equipment status.

• Assist with approximately 10 new equipment installations annually, including setup, alignment, and verification of proper operation.

• Operate forklifts and other lifting equipment safely to move, position, and install machinery and components.

• Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and overall performance.

• Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company standards during maintenance and installation tasks.

• Support continuous improvement efforts by recommending process or equipment enhancements based on maintenance findings.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience working on relevant production equipment and machines.

• Hands-on experience with preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC equipment and other industrial machinery.

• Proficiency in electrical maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting and repair of electrical components and systems.

• Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.

• Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC issues.

• Demonstrated capability to perform CNC maintenance, including lathes, mills, CNC Swiss machines, water jets, EDMs, and robotic equipment.

• Competence in PLC troubleshooting for production equipment.

• Ability to work independently in an industrial maintenance setting and manage tasks with minimal supervision.

• Strong troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.

• Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical degree or formal technical education (preferred).

• Previous experience in CNC maintenance beyond the minimum requirements (preferred).

• Prior experience working independently in an industrial maintenance position (preferred).

• Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in manufacturing equipment.

• Experience working with robotic systems and automated equipment.

• Comfort operating forklifts and lifting equipment in an industrial environment.

• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with production and engineering teams.

• Attention to detail in documentation and recordkeeping for maintenance activities.

Work Environment

This position operates on a second shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. New hires train on first shift, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for the first 8 to 12 weeks to ensure a smooth onboarding and thorough training experience. The role is based in a massive manufacturing facility employing approximately 500 people. The environment is air-conditioned, clean, and well-lit, providing a comfortable and professional setting for industrial maintenance work. Maintenance mechanics regularly work around CNC machines, EDMs, lathes, mills, CNC Swiss machines, water jets, robotic systems, presses, and other advanced production equipment, and may use forklifts and lifting devices as part of their daily activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of White Bear Lake, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $44.23/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
