Relocation Specialist (Moving Packer)

Type: 6+ Months Contract   

Responsibilities:

• A moving packer will secure, wrap, and box household or commercial belongings to prepare them for transport. They will be handle fragile items with care, maintain strict inventory records, and ensure all packages are clearly labeled and protected against damage during the move.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

• Safe Packing: Wrap, pad, and pack household goods, furniture, and fragile items (e.g., glassware, electronics, artwork) into appropriate boxes using bubble wrap, packing paper, and peanuts. Wrapping and arranging items in containers to prevent movement or breakage. Using packing tools such as tape guns, box cutters and shrink wrap machines.
• Labeling & Inventory: Record items on inventory sheets, label boxes with their contents and destination rooms, and seal packages securely.
• Locating and Relocating: Assist movers in carrying packed boxes to the designated staging area.
• Quality Control: Inspect items for pre-existing damage before packing and report issues to supervisors or clients.
• Workspace Maintenance: Keep packing stations clean, organize moving supplies, and break down empty boxes.
• Convert physical records into high-quality digital files. Preparing documents (removing staples/paperclips), operating scanning equipment, ensuring image clarity, and securely archiving files into digital databases.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, and safely lift/carry heavy objects (typically between 50 to 80 lbs).
• Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills to ensure fragile items are secure and no inventory is lost. Prepping files, operating imaging equipment (commercial copiers), validating image clarity and accurately indexing documents into shared drives.
• Customer Service: Friendly and professional demeanor when working inside clients' homes, capable of following specific packing instructions.
• Teamwork: Ability to communicate and work efficiently alongside drivers and other moving crew members.
