Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 21 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Candidate must understand the requirements to produce a negative drug screen for all panels.

Description: The unit has 37 beds, a combination of private and semi-private rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio on day shifts is 1:4-6, and on night shifts, it is 1:5-6. There is a charge nurse available 24/7 depending on the schedule who may take patient assignments if needed. Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are available with a ratio of 1:10-15. Every other weekend commitment is required for both day and night shifts. Candidates may be required to work holidays based on the schedule. There is no specific scrub color requirement; approved logo gear is permitted with scrubs. Patients on the unit may require Telemetry monitoring. Common drips include Lasix and Heparin, and BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow patients may be admitted. No vents are managed on this unit. Clientists are on-site during the day shift, with additional coverage from advanced practice nurses at night. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts are typically from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM for days and 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM for nights. Self-scheduling is available, but the manager will finalize schedules. Floating to other floors may occur if competencies allow, and staff will take a full patient assignment when floating. Floor-specific orientation includes two days in the department and one day of hospital/EMR orientation. Common diagnoses and types of patients include COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, Pneumonia, and surgical cases such as hip and knee replacements, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, and bowel resections. There is a cancellation policy of 12 hours per 13 weeks. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN degree is not required for this position. This is an acute care setting. The division is Nursing. Shifts involve 12-hour day rotations. Required Certifications include BLS (AHA).
