About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of recent progressive care experience License: Ohio nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Ability to float within the organization as needed - Experience with similar PCU/Stepdown patient populations Description: The unit is a Stepdown/PCU unit with 32 beds and an average daily census of 25-32 patients. It cares for patients with various medical diagnoses as well as pre- and post-surgical patients with mixed acuity, including PCU-level care. The shifts are from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with a schedule of 36 hours per week, including every other weekend. Candidates should possess experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response/code teams, IV therapy, and blood product administration. They should also have skills in central line and PICC care, heparin protocols, respiratory support, wound care, and pre/post-surgical patient care. Teaching hospital experience is welcomed. One pre-approved time-off request is allowed per contract. Travelers may be required to float to different units within the organization as needed. Call duty is required, and weekend coverage is every other weekend. Patient Age Groups served include adults. The unit handles a range of patient diagnoses, including various medical conditions and pre- and post-surgical patients. Interdisciplinary support is provided by IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. Proper credentialing and compliance are expected to be completed in a timely manner. Preferred skills include managing telemetry, accessing ports, administering blood products, and airway management. Two professional references are required, with at least one reference from a managerial or supervisory position.
