Senior Student Success Coach

Job Overview Graduate School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD) at George Washington University, through the Office of Student Life (OSL), seeks a Senior Student Success Coach. The Coach will work with graduate students to coach career development, provide academic advising, and support student services. This hybrid role focuses on coaching, skill‑building program delivery, and collaboration with OSL, GSEHD faculty, and university offices to promote academic progress and post‑graduate success. Academic Coaching Provides concierge‑level services and academic coaching to a caseload of graduate students from matriculation through graduation. Works with the Associate and Assistant Dean of Student Life to manage enrollment records and improve retention and completion, including onboarding, registration assistance, academic standing interventions, comprehensive exam support, and graduation clearance. Maintains knowledge of current School and University policies and communicates them effectively to faculty, staff, and students. Assists with collection and reporting of statistics and data for annual reports and collaborates with the Assistant Dean to craft learning objectives and assess professional development programs. Career Coaching Supports career development of graduate students and alumni, coaching through goal‑setting, strategy, job search, networking, application materials, interviewing, salary negotiation for internships and employment. Manages design, delivery (online and in person), and assessment of professional development programs. Interfaces with employers to hire GSEHD students and alumni and connects them to campus resources. Student Engagement Coordinates graduate student activities and major events, such as New Student Orientation, Preview Day, and Commencement. Collaborates with leadership and student organizations to provide engagement opportunities and serves as staff advisor for student organizations. Additional Duties Performs other related duties as assigned; this is a hybrid position with some on‑campus and some remote days. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be substituted. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field. Career coaching or counseling experience, preferably with graduate students. Academic advising experience with graduate students. Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including training abilities and public speaking in person and online. Ability to design, plan, deliver, and evaluate programs, workshops, seminars, and webinars. Demonstrated success in teamwork and building cross‑functional and interdepartmental relationships. Experience analyzing university policy, explaining it to stakeholders, and applying it to specific situations. Proficiency with Handshake, Salesforce, Banner, and Tableau. Compensation Salary range: $47,073.26 - $77,725.62.
