Human Resources Director

As the Director of Human Resources at Bosque School, you will play a key leadership role in fostering an inclusive, respectful, and high-performing work environment. You will report directly to the Head of School and serve as a core member of the Leadership Team, partnering with school leaders to ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies while implementing systems and practices that support our exceptional staffulty across the full employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to evaluation, benefits, and professional growth. Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Partnership Serve as a key member of the School’s Leadership Team, collaborating to advance Bosque’s mission, values, and strategic directions. Work in partnership with the Head of School, the Business Office, and other administrators to assess and implement staffing and compensation plans aligned with enrollment and budgetary considerations. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding sensitive personnel and institutional matters. Talent Acquisition & Lifecycle Management Lead the full recruitment cycle for faculty, staff, contractors, and seasonal roles, including job postings, screening, interview coordination, reference and background checking, and candidate communications. Develop, evaluate, and refine recruitment strategies to attract and retain qualified, mission-aligned candidates, in alignment with strategic priorities. Draft and manage job announcements, job descriptions, offer letters, contracts, and related documentation. Oversee comprehensive onboarding and offboarding processes, including orientations, HRIS access, COBRA oversight, and exit interviews. Coordinate employee transitions, working with managers to address coverage, backfilling, and hiring needs. Employee Relations & Organizational Culture Serve as an accessible, neutral point of contact for employee and manager inquiries related to policies, benefits, and workplace standards. Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture rooted in trust, collaboration, and shared values. Provide support in resolving employee concerns and conflict resolution; consult with supervisors to document and manage performance issues and disciplinary actions. Administer and document the annual performance review process, in collaboration with managers. Lead or assist with investigations into employee grievances to ensure legal and ethical compliance. Collaborate with leadership colleagues to support a value-driven workplace culture and identify opportunities for process improvement. Assist in developing and implementing employee wellness and training initiatives. Partner with faculty, staff, and leadership to support the implementation and advancement of Bosque’s ECC Principles & Best Practices. Benefits Administration & Compliance Manage the school’s benefits program, including annual open enrollment, communications, and liaison work with brokers and carriers. Serve as the first point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and escalate complex issues as appropriate. Coordinate and maintain benefits-related documentation, ensuring compliance with labor laws and organizational policy. Prepare and file required state and federal reports (e.g., EEO-1, DOL, CMS/Medicare), and create compliance calendars to track obligations. Oversee the Worker’s Compensation program and ensure timely reporting and resolution of claims. Oversee annual updates to the Employee Handbook. Guide and maintain related trainings and compliance. HR Systems, Data, & Reporting Serve as the primary administrator of the HRIS system (Paycor), ensuring data accuracy and system integrity. Collaborate with the Business Office to ensure accurate and timely payroll-related updates and leave tracking. Create and manage internal HR reports, including data for compensation analysis, accreditation, licensure, and annual reporting. Research, analyze, and recommend HR policies and practices related to recruitment, compensation, onboarding, evaluation, and compliance. Stay current with federal and state regulations and independent school HR trends and best practices. Miscellaneous Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to personal growth, reflection, and meaningful contribution to Bosque School’s Equity, Community, and Culture (ECC) Principles & Best Practices. Serve as an active member of the ECC Committee as needed. Actively support and help lead school-wide change efforts that align with Bosque’s mission, values, and strategic priorities. Collaboratively work with colleagues and administrators in support of the manifestation of our mission and values. When disagreements arise, lean into our “cultivating community” behaviors of coming together in moments of crisis and confusion, assuming positive intent, and seeking clarification. Maintain a professional demeanor; de-escalate conflict when it inevitably arises; seek solutions by surfacing underlying issues, and problem-solve with the appropriate colleagues/administrators. Maintain a visible and engaged presence across campus; participate in school events and actively support community initiatives. Attend all staffulty meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required. In and outside of the classroom/office, model a commitment and growth mindset towards manifesting Bosque’s mission, core values, and Equity, Community, and Culture Principles & Best Practices for All Employees. Demonstrate a commitment to working with culturally diverse students, families, and colleagues and contributing to building and maintaining an inclusive community. Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Bosque School Employee Handbook. Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, including compliance with the school’s Non-Disclosure Agreement and expectations around sensitive information. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources management; school or nonprofit experience preferred but not required. CPM, SHRM, or SPHR certification (or working toward certification) required In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices. Proficiency with HRIS platforms required; experience onboarding and managing Paycor is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality, act with discretion, and uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills. Strong critical thinking and initiative—proactive in identifying and implementing process improvements. Experience using HR data to inform decision-making and align with HR best practices. Ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and sound judgment while meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented culture. Commitment to providing outstanding customer service and producing high-quality, detail-oriented work.
