Cybersecurity Analyst - SOC & Threat Monitoring

Some SOC roles keep you locked in a box clicking "clear alert" all day. This isn't one of them.

We are partnering with a rapidly growing technology and communications firm in the Newark area to find a Cybersecurity Analyst who loves the thrill of the hunt. The Environment & The Stack

You’ll be joining an agile, highly collaborative Security Operations team tasked with defending systems, endpoints, applications, and cloud services. You will get deep, hands-on exposure to a modern enterprise security stack:

· SIEM: Splunk (Strongly preferred)

· EDR: CrowdStrike

· Vulnerability Management: Nessus

· Infrastructure: Hybrid Cloud / SaaS & Live Network Operations

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

· Live Threat Monitoring: Actively monitor, triage, and investigate security alerts and anomalies across systems and endpoints.

· Deep-Dive Analysis: Analyze logs, hunt down authentication anomalies, trace malware activity, and run through endpoint events methodically.

· Incident Response: Play a key supporting role in active security investigations and live incident response workflows.

· Vulnerability & SIEM Tuning: Review Nessus scan results to guide remediation efforts and assist with Splunk dashboard creation, alert configurations, and rule tuning.

Who You Are (The Ideal Fit)

· Experience: 1 to 4 years of dedicated SOC or Security Operations experience.

· The Tools: You’ve spent time inside Splunk (or a major SIEM alternative) and know your way around CrowdStrike or Nessus.

· Fundamentals: Solid grasp of networking protocols, security concepts, and basic Linux/Windows administration.

· Mindset: You don't just clear tickets; you have an analytical, investigative mindset and want to understand why an alert triggered.

Pluses (Nice to Have):

· Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework or automated SOAR workflows.

· Basic scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) to help automate repetitive tasks.
