Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor position in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This role involves providing inpatient care for a variety of orthopedic and general medical patients, including total knees, total hips, shoulder replacements, and patients with COPD, diabetes, wounds, IV infusions, dementia, oncology, fractures, sepsis, pneumonia, and other acute conditions. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM and 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification; minimum one year of relevant experience; candidates must meet location requirements (reside within 50 miles).
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system, familiarity with orthopedic patient care.
• Floats: Will float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and McDermott Behavioral Health units when needed.
• Additional Information: The unit emphasizes hourly rounding and bedside shift reports. The primary patient demographic is low to middle class, including some patients who are homeless with mental health or addiction histories.
• Orientation: One week of classroom training followed by a 12-hour shift on the unit.
• Certifications and Experience: BLS Certification, minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, license to submit.
• Other: Candidates must have a drivers license to verify location; scrub color is navy blue.
