Maintenance Director

Pomeroy Living is looking for an experienced Maintenance Director to lead the facilities and maintenance operations of one of our skilled nursing communities.

This is not a sit behind a desk maintenance position. We need a hands-on leader who knows buildings, understands how to prioritize, can manage a team, and is comfortable jumping in when something needs to get done.

What You'll Own

You will be responsible for the overall condition, safety, and operation of the community, including:

• Leading and developing the maintenance team
• Overseeing HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety, and other building systems
• Staying ahead of preventative maintenance instead of waiting for things to break
• Troubleshooting problems and knowing when your team can handle the work and when a qualified contractor is needed
• Maintaining the community in accordance with applicable healthcare, safety, fire, and building requirements
• Managing vendors and contractors and holding them accountable for quality, cost, and completion
• Planning and overseeing repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects
• Managing department expenses and making responsible decisions with the maintenance budget
• Maintaining emergency preparedness systems and responding when building emergencies occur
• Working closely with the Administrator and leadership team to keep the community safe, functional, and looking its best

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who knows their way around a building and knows how to lead people.

You should have:

• At least 5 years of facilities or maintenance management experience
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building systems
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and life safety requirements
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make sound decisions when something goes wrong
• Experience managing contractors, vendors, projects, and department expenses
• The ability to work hands on when needed and safely use common hand and power tools
• The ability to lift to 50 pounds
• Healthcare, skilled nursing, or senior living experience is strongly preferred.
