Full-Time, Days Pay range: $94,494 - $141,772 St. Charles Health System Job Title Manager – Sterile Processing – Bend and Redmond Reporting To Director of Perioperative Services Department Sterile Processing Last Reviewed February 23, 2023 Position Overview The Sterile Processing Manager at St. Charles Health System (SCHS) manages the daily and strategic operations of the Sterile Processing Departments in Bend and Redmond. The Manager ensures compliance with policies and standards, oversees performance management of personnel, and collaborates with peri‑operative teams to maintain optimal instrument readiness and patient safety. Core Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution to operating rooms, cath lab, diagnostic units, respiratory therapy, emergency department, ICU, outpatient clinics, and nursing floors. Develop and deliver comprehensive orientation, training, and competency validation for new staff. Ensure staff adhere to technical, safety, and regulatory standards set by CMS, TJC, AAMI, AORN, AST. Coordinate in‑service education on new products, procedures, and equipment to prevent resource loss and protect staff and patients. Monitor and mentor teams, maintaining high performance and compliance with safety requirements. Collaborate with OR leadership to guarantee quality of surgical instrument trays and recommend tray contents and handling procedures. Plan and evaluate daily departmental activities, applying continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Kaizen). Develop, monitor, and report on budget and operational targets. Hire, coach, and evaluate direct reports, fostering a high‑performance team aligned with organizational goals. Implement and manage safety directives, providing customer service that is timely, efficient, and accurate. Lead improvement initiatives and champion change across the department. Education Required: Bachelor of Science in a related field. Preferred: Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent leadership experience. Licensure / Certification Required: Current CST, CRCST, CBSPD, or Oregon nursing license. Preferred: Advanced certifications such as CIS, CHL, or CER. Experience Required: Minimum 3 years in sterile processing or related field. Required: 5 years in a health care institution with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Preferred: None specified. Physical Requirements 75% or more: Standing, walking, lifting 1–10 lbs, clear speaking and hearing. 50%: Bending, stooping, reaching overhead, lifting 11–25 lbs. 25%: Climbing ladders, lifting 25–50 lbs, hearing whispered speech. 10%: Sitting, climbing stairs, operating keyboard or motor vehicle. Exposure: Heat, cold, wet/slippery areas, noise, dust, vibration, chemical solutions, uneven surfaces, blood‑borne pathogens (BBP).
